Erly Walker in her garden

Erly Walker

EMPTY-NESTER Erly Walker enjoys life at Wyuna Estate where she has always valued the sense of community and room to garden.

Erly, who migrated from the Philippines 30 years ago, said her son and daughter had grown up and left home since they moved to the Estate in 2004.

However Erly’s daughter Danica and her family are just a short walk away, and also live on Wyuna Estate.

“It’s nice having my daughter and my grand-daughter Annalise, who is three, so close,” Erly said.

A keen gardener, Erly’s front garden is hedged with ornamental, herbaceous plants and she has a thriving veggie patch in the back garden.

“My garden is very important to me,” said Erly who is studying aged care personal grooming, and volunteers at Karingal and Colac Visitor Information Centre.

“I can recommend living here – it’s so quiet and I’ve always had good neighbours,” Erly said.

“When I go for my walk – on every corner somebody knows me and I know them,” she added.

“It is really good in here. There’s no trouble – it’s safe, and it’s quiet.”
